NYT Hides Whistleblower Confirmation Deep Inside Report

(LibertySociety.com) – When the details of Hunter Biden’s plea agreement became public, most left-leaning news organizations focused on attacking Republicans for accusing him of things he must not have been guilty of, since the U.S. Attorney investigating him only brought two misdemeanor tax violation charges and offered him a deal to get out of the felony gun charge. Just a few days later on June 23, the House Ways and Means Committee released testimony from two whistleblowers who accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of interfering with the investigation, thrusting the story into the spotlight.

The New York Times chose to publish an article detailing the differences between how the whistleblowers and the DOJ claimed the case was handled. However, the author did not disclose that they had personally confirmed the authenticity of the whistleblowers’ claims until the 21st paragraph of the article, rather than making their confirmation the centerpiece of the story. Within that paragraph, the author divulged that one IRS whistleblower, Gary Shapley, testified that the DOJ prevented U.S. Attorney David Weiss from pursuing charges in California and Washington D.C., adding that a second unidentified whistleblower corroborated the first whistleblower’s claim in their testimony to the committee.

Attorney General Merrick Garland denied the claims of the whistleblowers, but their attorneys doubled down shortly after his public comments, promising that they are not backing down from their claims. Included in one testimony is a text message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese businessman, where he says that he and his father “would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” also claiming that Joe Biden was with him as he was sending the text. Shapley’s testimony accuses the DOJ of shielding Joe Biden from being tied to Hunter’s business deals, preventing FBI agents from questioning one of Hunter’s business partners about emails that seem to indicate that Joe Biden was directly involved. They also accused AG Garland of denying Weiss’ request to be named as a Special Counsel.
