(LibertySociety.com) – Since the beginning of 2022, North Korea has launched more missiles than it did in all of 2021, with some of them reportedly capable of reaching the United States. On February 8, the country bragged about being one of only a few to field advanced missiles and nuclear weapons tests, “shaking the world.” These recent launches are increasing tensions with South Korea and are in blatant defiance of the UN Security Council’s ballistic missile testing ban.

One of the weapons was a Hwasong-12 ballistic missile with a medium range that could hit US territories in the Pacific Ocean. Another was the Hwasong-15, capable of sending a nuclear warhead to strike anywhere it wanted in the United States. North Korea also claims to have tested a high-precision hypersonic missile traveling faster than the speed of sound – virtually undetected.
The US State Department responded to the announcement, stating it’s willing to start a dialog with North Korea’s leader, but the calls have gone unanswered so far. A spokesperson from the federal department said America has a vital interest in stopping the seemingly hostile country from endangering citizens of the United States and its allies.
