Migrants Climb Federal Walls at Border’s Opposite Ends

(LibertySociety.com) – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently released two videos showing the latest tactics of illegal migrants attempting to enter the United States.

The first video was recorded in El Paso, where migrants were caught trying to climb over a section of border wall with a rope ladder. A DPS helicopter captured the footage on video while backing up Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents pursuing the illegal migrants on the ground. The agents approached the illegal migrants who had made it across the wall and arrested them but were soon assaulted by individuals on the Mexican side of the border. The men were shown “throwing rocks, sand, and water bottles at the agents.”

Nearly 800 miles away, DPS located a smuggler and a group of illegal migrants crossing the Rio Grande on a ladder. The group then used the ladder to cross the border wall near McAllen, Texas. The attempt was thwarted thanks to drone technology implemented by DPS to assist in patrolling the border. Five migrants and the smuggler were taken into custody. A spokesman for DPS said that over 300 drones in the state had flown around 71,000 flights at the southern border. CBP also utilizes drones to detect got-aways that slip through areas other than ports of entry.

Record numbers of illegal migrants have crossed into the United States since President Biden took office in 2021, including criminals and known terrorists. Republicans passed sweeping border protection legislation at the beginning of the 118th Congress, but it has never seen the light of day in the upper chamber. Another border bill was introduced in the Senate, but it was met with instant backlash after the text of the bill was released following weeks of secrecy.

Senator James Lankford, R-Okla., was censured by the Oklahoma Republican Party for pushing the controversial bill that would have allowed up to 5,000 illegal crossings every day. A second version of the bill failed to pass on May 23 after some Democrats sided with the Republicans in voting against the measure.
