The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings.” She continued, “This is not just my story; it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected.”
Her husband, former President Donald Trump, plans to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages, arguing that the 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago was a politically motivated act of persecution. The raid, conducted on August 8, 2022, was part of a federal investigation into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified records.
Trump’s attorney, Daniel Epstein, told FOX Business that the lawsuit is not just about Trump defending himself but standing up for all Americans who believe in holding the government accountable. Epstein argued that the decisions made by Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray were a clear violation of constitutional principles, motivated by politics rather than legitimate law enforcement needs.
Epstein criticized the raid, stating it was inconsistent with normal protocols that require consent and communication with the target’s legal team. He claimed that Trump’s privacy expectations at Mar-a-Lago were violated and described the raid as a severe and offensive intrusion that would disturb any reasonable person. Epstein also plans to seek $100 million in punitive damages, arguing that the raid’s conduct constituted a blatant overreach.
