Maxine Waters Praises Harris: Smarter Than Trump

(LibertySociety.com) – During a July 22 interview, California Rep. Maxine Waters stated Vice President Kamala Harris is “smarter than” Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump.

Waters told MSNBC host Joy Reid that Republicans have attacked Harris for “her laugh,” her political record, and “who she has dated in the past.” She added that “it is going to be tough.” However, Waters stated Harris would not “be intimidated,” claiming that she is “smart” and “tough.” Waters continued to say that Harris “is smarter than Trump,” adding, “She is going to get him” if he criticizes her.

According to Waters, Harris has had a successful career because “she is strong and believed in herself” and, as a result, “moved right up the ladder to the vice presidency.” She said Harris “did all of the right things for the most part” while climbing the ladder, noting that Harris “is accomplished and she succeeded.” Waters stated that Harris has “courage and that defines her.”

Her support for Harris comes after she had claimed there would “be no other Democratic candidate” except President Joe Biden. Until Biden dropped out of the race on July 21, Waters was one of the most outspoken people who supported him remaining in the race. Unlike other lawmakers and donors who had called for Biden to drop out, Waters believed Biden had “grassroots support,” claiming his age was not an issue. According to Waters, she was angry when she first learned that Biden was dropping out of the race, stating that “up to the last minute,” she was told Biden would remain in the race. However, once he posted on Twitter that he endorsed Harris, Waters said she “calmed down.” Waters was one of the first to endorse Harris.

As of July 22, Harris had enough delegates pledged to be named the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. Her nomination as the Democratic candidate will not be official until August at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
