(LibertySociety.com) – Democrats and their media allies are up in arms over the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) new initiative to ensure the 2024 election is conducted fairly.
The organization aims to restore faith in American elections and ensure that only legal votes are counted. The plan will include deploying monitors to various polling places, especially in battleground states, to report issues to a hotline set up by the RNC. Additionally, the organization is recruiting attorneys and poll workers who will focus on the integrity of the election. The attorneys will be ready to take legal action if necessary.
Unsurprisingly, media outlets are painting the initiative as potentially damaging to voters’ faith in the election. Reports of possible voter intimidation and harassment have been at the forefront of discussions on mainstream news outlets in recent weeks. The RNC has described the effort as a way to stop “Democrat attempts to circumvent the rules,” one of the biggest fights ahead of the 2020 election. The organization has set a goal of signing up 100,000 volunteers, which was deemed unrealistic by some.
Fifteen states will receive most of the attention from the RNC’s initiative, but the organization will also work with other state GOPs to adopt the same programs. The RNC recently held an event in Oakland County Michigan to launch the initiative. During the gathering, RNC Co-chair Lara Trump touted the unique election integrity program that was adopted immediately after the leadership shakeup at the organization back in March. Such an effort is not uncommon. Democrats and Republicans organize volunteers during each election, but media outlets have expressed no concern about Democrats sowing doubt in the electoral process or intimidating voters.
Election officials from several battleground states believe organizing large groups of volunteers is paramount to instilling trust among voters. One skeptic of the plan said that the RNC was planting seeds about the possibility of the election being stolen, which he said “can be very dangerous.” However, in years past, Democrats have also questioned the results of elections, but the media’s focus is almost always on the Republicans’ claims.
