(LibertySociety.com) – The recent Capitol protests have caused major division, not just among voters, but among party leaders as well. On Sunday, January 24, Fox News host Mark Levin discussed the upcoming impeachment trial and explained what he thought should happen to Republicans who support it.
Levin said every member of the GOP who has been or will be a part of the “Salem Witch Trial” (impeachment), which he called an “unconstitutional act,” should face primaries. He went on to say they should not get to choose “our president next time around.” He has previously said the people who blame Trump for the Capitol Hill incident will be judged harshly by history.
Wow. @marklevinshow thinks people who say Trump ignited the insurrection or support his impeachment will be judged harshly by history. 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/EQq4Xi07r9

A day after the Fox News host’s comments, the House sent the single article of impeachment against Trump to the Senate. And on Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) forced his party members to show where they stand on the issue. Five GOP senators sided with Democrats, adding to the 10 who supported it in the lower chamber. The good news is that there still likely won’t be enough GOP leaders against Trump to convict him in the impeachment trial.
