(LibertySociety.com) – Mainstream media (MSM) organizations and Big Tech already have a lot of power in the US. They can often drown out Conservative voices because they’re so large, even though the increased popularity of more right-leaning media outlets is making it more difficult for MSM to dominate the space. But Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) fears what would happen if the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) passes.
In a May interview, Rubio expressed doubt about the bill. He said the legislation sounds good in theory, but he doesn’t think it would be great in practice. It would allow media companies to collectively bargain with Silicon Valley to force Big Tech to pay for their content. Rubio is worried the bill would create media cartels with big companies that would refuse to allow smaller, independent companies to join them because they challenge their views or narratives.
This bill is a Trojan Horse. It would enable more collusion among media giants and big tech. They already control far too much. https://t.co/tndXI8xyN8

Rubio said he thinks the JCPA “opens the door to greater collusion between big media and big tech,” meaning that in the end, Conservatives would be the ones who suffer.
