(LibertySociety.com) – Many in the United States suspect former President Donald Trump will run for the Oval Office again in 2024, although he has not made a formal announcement. Speaking about the possibility, Fox News Channel TV host Laura Ingraham stated she believes Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) would run as an alternative candidate in the upcoming general election to thwart Trump’s potential run.
Ingraham surmised the Utah legislator might throw his hat in the presidential ring to derail Republicans in 2024 because he crossed party lines to confirm new SCOTUS Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson.

In a discussion with Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway, Ingraham said she wasn’t surprised Romney changed his mind on Jackson, whom he previously voted against for the US Court of Appeals position in Washington, DC. Hemingway agreed, stating the senator has been “inconsistent” throughout his time in politics. She also agreed with Ingraham’s theory that Romney could run for POTUS in 2024 as a third-party candidate to spoil Trump’s chances at winning, should he run. In 2020, the long-time politician and former presidential candidate made history when he voted to convict Trump during his impeachment trial.
Neither Trump nor Romney has made any formal campaign announcements as of yet.
