KJP’s Muted Response to Antisemitism Question Draws Ire of Democrat Congressman

(LibertySociety.com) – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre came under fire after she refused to acknowledge the increased threat to Jewish people in the United States during a press briefing on October 23. Florida Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz, who is Jewish, blasted Jean-Pierre for saying that the White House has not “seen any credible threats.”

The White House spokeswoman did not acknowledge the antisemitic rallies that have occurred on college campuses across the country. She seemingly forgot about the October 18 chaotic occupation of the Cannon House Office Building at the Capitol complex by anti-Israel protestors. Instead, she shifted to discussing the “disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks” that Muslim Americans have recently experienced.

Moskowitz shared the video of the exchange on X, formerly Twitter, of Jean-Pierre’s dismissal of the concerns about the safety of Jewish people, expressing how easily she could have just agreed that their well-being mattered. He also criticized her incessant referencing of her book when providing an answer to the question, asking if she was reading an answer that was given pre-approval. In the last sentence of his post, he demanded a better response from Jean-Pierre. Just hours later, she attempted to clean up her mess, posting on X (Twitter) that the White House had instructed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to investigate any threats against Jewish, Muslim, Arab American, and Palestinian communities.

Following the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history, the White House and most members of Congress have taken a clear stance in supporting Israel’s right to defend itself. Democratic members of Congress who have engaged in antisemitic attacks have been widely condemned by their colleagues and President Biden. However, Biden raised eyebrows during his visit to Israel after announcing $100 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank. Terrorists have previously stolen supplies from the United States and other countries. Upon returning from his trip, Biden appealed to Congress to pass an aid package for Israel but attached a larger amount of funding for Ukraine to his proposal.
