Kevin McCarthy Vows To Hold Biden Admin Accountable

( – On December 7, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) posted a promise on social media to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its actions while in power. Republicans earned a majority in the House of Representatives during the midterm elections in November and will take control of the Lower Chamber when Congress convenes in January 2023. Although it’s not a lock quite yet, McCarthy expects to ascend to the position of House speaker. As such, he’s preparing the public for what he plans to do, starting on “day one.”

The New Congress

The California lawmaker believes the public has the right to know the origins of the coronavirus. Back in August, he said Dr. Anthony Fauci led America astray with his advice during the pandemic and “he owes the American people answers,” according to Breitbart. In addition, the minority leader also wants to know exactly what happened during the Afghanistan withdrawal and indicated he plans to have the House look into why the Department of Justice “went after concerned parents,” although he didn’t elaborate on any specifics.

In November, the politician shared a list of House members he planned to remove from their committees. Those legislators include Representative Adam Schiff (CA), Ilhan Omar (MN), and Eric Swalwell (CA) — all Democrats. The moves would follow in line with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democratic majority removing Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) from their committee assignments. In order to remove them, McCarthy would need a majority vote in the Lower Chamber.

More Plans

On November 30, the Republican leader wrote a letter to Representative Benny Thompson (D-MS) about the January 6 committee investigating the riots at the Capitol. McCarthy said once the 118th Congress convenes, the group “will come to an end.”

He wrote to remind the Mississippi lawmaker to save every record and transcript from the investigations in accordance with the law. McCarthy made it clear he has some concerns about the transparency of the January 6 entity. He plans to use the Republican majority in the House to conduct another investigation to find out more details about security that day and to ensure the committee’s claims were backed by evidence. The panel is expected to release its final report to the public during the week of December 19.

Based on McCarthy’s words as of late, it seems the House will be busy with various inquiries.

What do you think about the GOP focus moving forward?
