(LibertySociety.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign website still does not include a section outlining the Democrat nominee’s proposed policies, even after she formally accepted the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Typically, presidential candidates provide policy proposals on their campaign websites so that voters can see what issues they plan to pursue if they are elected.
The 2016 Clinton campaign website provided voters with a page featuring 200 policy proposals. In the 2020 election, Joe Biden’s campaign included a 110-page outline of his policy proposals.
The current Trump campaign website lists “20 core promises” and also provides a link to the 2024 RNC platform. The former president’s campaign website addresses multiple issues, including energy independence, addressing inflation, and securing the southern border.
However, the Harris campaign has opted instead for offering general proposals in campaign speeches and statements that are light on specifics.
Unlike previous presidential candidates, Harris has refused to hold a solo press conference or interview in which she outlines and defends her policies. Instead, the campaign has deployed surrogates to appear on television to make claims about Harris’ policy positions.
Harris’s campaign agenda appears to include a few cherry-picked policies promoted by the Biden-Harris administration that voters approve of while the candidate has tried to distance herself from the administration’s economic policies.
Meanwhile, congressional Democrats are urging the vice president to prioritize “character” over policy, claiming that voters are not interested in what Harris plans to do if she is elected in November.
Michigan Democrat Rep. Dan Kildee told CNN that Americans care “more about the direction of the country” and the character of the candidate than they do “the minutiae of policy.”
Other Democrats believe that Harris would alienate voters if she presented specific policy proposals.
New Hampshire Democrat Rep. Annie Kuster told CNN that it was better for Harris to remain vague on the details of her agenda to ensure that the Democrats have “the biggest tent possible.” Kuster said there was no reason for Harris to limit herself to any specific points of view.
