(LibertySociety.com) – In August 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Vietnam and Singapore, marking the first time she or any other VP in US history has made the trip. Although she aims to speak to leaders regarding COVID-19 and climate change, her plan includes a check on “China’s growing influence” in Southeast Asia.
Evidently, the Biden Administration’s concern about China’s economic and military growth in the Indo-Pacific region trumps caution over travel as coronavirus cases in the United States rise.
NEW: VP Kamala Harris will travel to Singapore and Vietnam next month to expand economic cooperation with the two Pacific Partners, according to her office.

With an eye on foreign relations, and to assist in ending the pandemic across the globe, the US has sent five million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam to date. Harris’s visit to the country will let her know if Washington’s efforts were successful.
In addition to pandemic discussions and to “expand economic cooperation” between the US and its Asian allies, Harris intends to talk with leaders about “regional safety.” Acute concerns include combating global weather change and rising sea levels.
Once she shores up relations on the other side of the world, Harris can return to the US to help her own citizens fight existing nationwide battles at home like explosive undocumented immigration, rising COVID case rates and escalating inflation.
