(LibertySociety.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris last Tuesday selected far-left Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate in the 2024 election, bypassing the odds-on favorite, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
The Democrat nominee confirmed her choice in an August 6 post on social media, vowing to build “a great partnership” and “team” to win in November.
The vice president defied Democrat Party leadership who encouraged her to name Shapiro, the widely popular governor of the all-important battleground states of Pennsylvania.
The Harris campaign had previously scheduled the VP rollout rally in Philadelphia, leading many to suspect that the vice president had already decided to choose the governor who could help deliver Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes.
The presumption that the Harris campaign was choosing Shapiro was further solidified after Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker released a video on Friday, August 2 expressing her support for Josh Shapiro as Harris’ running mate.
Media outlets hailed the choice of Governor Walz, claiming that he could help Harris shore up support among moderates and independents in the Midwest.
Walz’s selection was met with delight by Republicans who immediately hammered the Minnesota governor over his radical left policies, including his support for open borders, driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, transgender surgeries for minors, and the protesters who caused half a billion dollars in damages during the George Floyd riots in Minnesota in 2020.
Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance said the selection of Governor Walz highlighted “just how radical Kamala Harris is.”
Vance told reporters last Tuesday that Harris caved to “the Hamas wing” of the Democrat Party when she bypassed Shapiro to select a running mate who wanted to send manufacturing jobs to China and make the American people rely on “garbage energy” instead of US energy.
Vance added that like Kamala Harris, Walz supported the defund the police movement. He described Harris and Walz as an “interesting tag team,” explaining that the Minnesota governor allowed BLM rioters “to burn down Minneapolis” and then Vice President Harris helped bail out the few that got arrested.
