Emergency workers tried for 30 minutes to revive him. Despite their efforts, including the use of a defibrillator, they were unable to save him. Early reports wrongly suggested that Ortega had drowned, but it was later confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack.

Ortega was born in Madrid and had built a strong career in Spanish television. He was praised for his roles in Caronte (2020), Elite (2018), and Nunc Et in Hora (2010).
