(LibertySociety.com) – The FBI received a sharp rebuke today from Special Counsel John Durham, who concluded that the agency “failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law,” when they decided to open an investigation into then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. Durham called out the FBI for not doing their due diligence in vetting the information they received, especially since it came from people who were politically motivated to damage the Trump campaign.
Durham blasted Andrew McCabe, who was the Deputy Director of the FBI at the time, for ordering the investigation after receiving word that the Trump campaign was planning to reveal derogatory information about his opponent Hillary Clinton, assigning Trump-hater Peter Strozk to take the lead on it. Durham also pointed out the apparent bias that was present in the decision-making of the FBI, as they reportedly never attempted to check into credible information that they received about Hillary Clinton’s plans to give the appearance of collusion between Trump and Russia.
The accusations from the Clinton campaign, as well as the claims from Democratic members of Congress, led to years of speculation by the media and Democrats. Durham further slammed the FBI, saying that additional training would be pointless if they refused to commit to “Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity” within the bureau. His long-awaited report highlighted the unequal standards that the FBI applied when deciding who and what they investigated.
Trump praised the results of the report, expressing his belief that people should be held accountable for their actions, specifically mentioning James Comey, who was the FBI Director at the time. It is unclear if anyone will be charged after the release of the report, but Representative Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has requested testimony from Special Counsel Durham in the House of Representatives.
