(LibertySociety.com) – When the Senate trial for former President Donald Trump’s impeachment began, there was a lot of chatter about how the chamber was going to have time to do its regular work. Democrats ignored the concerns and forged ahead with their failed attempt to convict the 45th president. And as predicted, the Biden administration is suffering the consequences.
According to a report from AP News, Biden’s cabinet is filling at the slowest pace in modern history. The new president has 23 cabinet officials, but just over a dozen have been approved in the last month. The Center for Presidential Transition said that previous administrations had about 84% of their core positions filled at this point.
The news about the slow process comes as his nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, withdrew her nomination after an uproar over her mean tweets.
The White House is withdrawing Neera Tanden’s nomination to lead OMB, marking the first failed confirmation push for one of President Biden’s cabinet picks. She wrote a letter to Mr. Biden asking that she be withdrawn. https://t.co/runlEr9Npm

The Democratic Party has a razor-thin majority in the Senate. Between that, the failed impeachment trial and Biden’s apparent penchant for controversial nominees, it’s no wonder it’s taking so long to fill his cabinet. Let’s hope the American people don’t suffer as a result.
