(LibertySociety.com) – President Biden often tells personal stories during his public appearances, usually speaking about things that his mother and father always told him when he was a child. During the Kansas City Chiefs’ visit to the White House, he spoke about his wife’s football preference. First Lady Jill Biden is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, showing her support by attending the 2023 Super Bowl, but the Chiefs were ultimately victorious after a controversial penalty call against the Eagles. President Biden brought up the call during their visit, joking that it was fortunate she was overseas because, “The way the game ended, I might be in for a rough night.” He added that the First Lady still is not convinced that the call was accurate.
Back in February 2023, President Biden was asked which team he would be supporting during an event about replacing lead pipes across the nation. He revealed that he would be hoping for an Eagle’s victory or else Jill would make him sleep by himself. Following the Chiefs’ win, President Biden tweeted a congratulatory message to the team, expressing his excitement to host them at the White House. The team has won two of the last three Super Bowls but could not visit Washington D.C. in 2020.
President Biden boasted about the team and their work with charities in their spare time, applauding the players for using their public prominence to do good for others. First Lady Biden was on a foreign trip at the time of their visit, but President Biden joked that he was choosing his words carefully. The team also enjoyed a tour of the White House prior to the public event where they presented a Chiefs jersey with the number 46 to President Biden. Harrison Butker, the kicker for the team, wore a pro-life tie with a Latin phrase that translates to “protect the most vulnerable.”
