Joe Biden Announces Another Run for the White House

(LibertySociety.com) – After rumors of a delay until fall 2023 and the announcement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. challenging him in the primary election, President Joe Biden officially announced his bid for re-election on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023. In a video announcement that begins with video images of the riot at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, Biden launched his campaign with a message of supporting freedom and defending democracy against MAGA extremists who want to take away Social Security, a claim that has been widely refuted amongst Republicans.

His announcement came just six days after his newest opponent took 14% of Democrat support for 2024 in a recent poll. Although many are saying the campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a long shot, his message could resonate with Independent voters and Democrats who are not satisfied with the direction of the country under Biden.

A recent poll conducted by AP/NORC revealed that 73% of Americans do not want President Biden to run again, including 47% of Democrats. However, the poll also shows that the majority of Democrats who said they did not want him to run again will still vote for him if he is the nominee. Most respondents to the poll cited President Biden’s age as a reason that he should not run again, as he is the oldest president in the history of the country, but his approval rating also sits at 42%.

So far, there are three candidates running in the Democrat primary election, while the Republican primary election has 4 official candidates, with several more potentially announcing a bid. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has been rumored to be planning an announcement after the end of the Florida legislative session, while South Carolina Senator Tim Scott is exploring the possibility of a run as well.
