Jim Jordan Wants to Interview Government Censors

(LibertySociety.com) – Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, is proving that he intends to get to the bottom of the government’s collusion with social media companies to censor and restrict the free speech of Americans. After many hearings in the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, Chair Jordan has requested transcribed interviews from two people whom the committee believes “are uniquely positioned to aid the committee’s oversight.” Yoel Roth, who is the former head of Trust and Safety at Twitter, and Chris Krebs, the former director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), have been asked to schedule their respective interviews before September 1.

Chair Jordan is particularly interested in Twitter’s work with the government in the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election. CISA played a significant role, according to the Twitter files that were released after Elon Musk bought the company. The agency worked with non-profit organizations that would advise social media companies on the types of speech that should be throttled or censored altogether regarding the election. Social media users were reportedly being monitored in real-time for speech that questioned the security of mail-in ballots.

Discussions about voting machines altering votes were also heavily censored post-election. Users were censored or “fact-checked” for claiming that voting machines were connected to the internet. However, Krebs admitted during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing in December 2020 that some of the voting machines used in the election were connected to the internet.

Contrarily, the CEO of the company that Krebs referenced claimed in a Michigan state legislature hearing that the machines were never connected to the internet. The CEO also denied using the IT software security company Solar Winds, which was hacked by “malicious actors” in March 2020. However, this claim was also false, as social media users archived proof from the company’s website. Chair Jordan and millions of Americans seek understanding as to why their freedom of speech was silenced by the government when they were simply asking legitimate questions.
