(LibertySociety.com) – Democrats had another bad day in the House of Representatives on July 20 during the latest of a series of chaotic Weaponization of the Federal Government hearings. Just minutes after it started, Florida Democrat Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz raised a point-of-order to try to end the hearing, claiming that Democrat presidential candidate and witness, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., should not be able to testify because of previous comments that she found to be offensive.
Wassernman-Schulz began reading from a House rule put in place by Republicans, insinuating that Kennedy would “defame, degrade, or incriminate” people during the hearing. Chairman Jim Jordan interrupted, asking her if she was “making a motion or a speech.” Rep. Wasserman-Schultz responded by moving to take the hearing into executive session (making it private), which was countered by a Republican representative who wished to table the motion. The Democrats lost and the motion was tabled, allowing the hearing to proceed. Kennedy was testifying before the committee to speak on government-coerced censorship on social media, as he was one of twelve people on a list that was discussed between the Biden administration and several social media companies, which ultimately resulted in their censorship.
After attempting to censor during the hearing about censorship, the Democrats spent most of their time defending government censorship and attempting to paint Kennedy as antisemitic, sparking widespread social media discussions. They also accused Kennedy of testifying at the hearing to try and take votes away from President Biden in an effort to help former President Trump win the 2024 election. U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett attempted to tie Kennedy to a Super Political Action Committee connected to the Republicans that is raising money for his campaign, although Kennedy denied knowing anything about it.
Plaskett’s attempt to smear Kennedy backfired, as Representative Kat Cammack, R-Fla., pointed out that Plaskett took campaign donations from pedophile and human trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Cammack also cornered the Democrats’ only witness for the hearing, questioning her about Representative Pramila Jayapal’s comments about Israel, asking if she thought those were antisemitic.
