(LibertySociety.com) – On July 21, the Republican nominee for vice president, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, 39, stated that he and former President Donald Trump are prepared for whomever the Democrats nominate for president.
His comments come just one day after President Joe Biden posted on Twitter that he would not seek reelection. In a second post, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. As of July 22, Harris had secured enough delegates to be the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
Vance stated that he and Trump are “running against the entire Democratic Party apparatus,” noting that Harris or any other Democrat “owns all of the bad policies of the Biden administration.” He pointed to her record as the “border czar,” then went on to list Democrats’ bad policies, including “an open border,” inflation, and “foreign policy that leads to war and destruction.” He added that he and Trump want to bring back prosperity for Americans.
Vance claimed the entire Democratic Party helped cover up Biden’s “inability to serve as Commander-in-Chief,” adding the party “owns the disaster of the last three years.” He noted that Democrats lied about Biden’s health “until the moment he became a political liability.” He criticized the Democrats for pushing Biden out of the race, calling the process “corrupt.” However, he added that Harris might be the “only Democrat worse than Joe Biden.”
He stated that once the Democrats nominate a vice presidential candidate, he is “prepared to debate whoever.”
Trump announced Vance as his running mate on July 15 during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Vance, who attended Ohio State University and Yale Law School, was a U.S. Marine who served in Iraq. He previously worked in Silicon Valley as a venture capitalist before winning the 2022 midterm election for the seat held by Sen. Rob Portman, who retired. He is also the author of the 2016 bestselling book, “Hillbilly Elegy.”
