(LibertySociety.com) – Recent allegations about the business dealings of President Joe Biden and several members of his family have reignited calls for his impeachment from many Republican voters. On Monday, June 12, Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles unveiled new articles of impeachment against both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to a recent Fox News report, Ogles said that he feels Biden has “violated his sworn oath” to protect the US Constitution. He said that because the American people can’t depend on him, it’s the responsibility of Congress to demand accountability.
Ogles isn’t the only lawmaker to have ever moved to impeach Biden. Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene filed articles of impeachment against Joe Biden immediately following his inauguration and again in May 2023 for the crisis at the southern border. Members of the House Oversight Committee, which Rep. Greene sits on, visited a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) on June 8th, 2023, to view an unclassified FD-1023 form from an informant who sought out Representative James Comer, R-Ky., and Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. Lawmakers claimed it contained evidence that President Biden took part in a bribery scheme that resulted in $10 million paid to the Biden family.
In a June 10 report, Greene expressed her feelings to Breitbart News about the lack of interest from her Republican colleagues to impeach Biden, stating, “That’s the part that literally leaves me dumbfounded.” She added at the time that she had been in contact with many House members to insist that they act. Although Greene had a rocky start to her first term in the House, she maintains that her job in the House is to represent her constituents who have repeatedly called for President Biden’s impeachment. She told Breitbart that she challenged her colleagues to prove to Republican voters that they are serious about holding President Biden accountable, stating, “If we don’t do it, then why do they want to vote for us?” Greene also said that there were two additional FD-1023 forms that the Oversight Committee was looking to get its hands on sometime during the second week of June 2023.
While new articles of impeachment have indeed been filed, the effort may struggle in the House due to lack of sufficient support, according to Fox News.
