(LibertySociety.com) – On April 2, a man rammed a car into the barricades outside of the US Capitol and hit two police officers, leaving one dead. The suspect, Noah Green, reportedly charged at an officer with a knife and then died from gunshot wounds after the police fired at him. Reports shortly after the attack said the assailant had stabbed one of the officers (that was later debunked), and a Democratic congresswoman seized on those reports to attack … guns.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted a statement on Twitter after the attack. She said she was “heartbroken” to learn about the Capitol Police officer’s death, later identified as William Evans. The congresswoman said she’s sending prayers for his family and the police force. Had she stopped her statement there, it would have been fine. Instead, she added, “The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife.”
Heartbroken to learn another CP was killed while protecting the Capitol. My thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family and the entire Capitol Police force. The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife.

It’s true that a gun attack is generally more deadly than a knife attack, but what exactly does that have to do with the current situation? An attack is an attack. Any loss of life is terrible. Since when do Congress members compare them and declare which is worse when someone has lost their life? It’s as absurd as it is disrespectful.
