(LibertySociety.com) – Hunter Biden was “one of the strongest voices” urging his father, President Joe Biden, to remain in the 2024 presidential race after his June 27 debate performance.
After the debate where the president repeatedly froze and misspoke, he reportedly gathered with members of his family on June 30, including Hunter Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Ashley Biden, and his grandchildren, at Camp David to discuss the future of his presidential campaign.
As Democrats, political commentators, and donors called for Biden to drop out of the race, his family told him “to stay in the race and keep fighting.” “One of the strongest voices” encouraging the president to resist the calls to drop out of the race and keep fighting was Hunter Biden. The president has often turned to his son for advice, and Hunter Biden encouraged his father to remain in the race so Americans can see the version of his father that he knows and not the confused and aging president they saw during the debate.
Hunter Biden was not the only family member stepping up to help the president as “the entire family is united” behind the president. One of his grandchildren also hoped to help by becoming more involved with his campaign.
In order to prepare for the debate against former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden went to Camp David for “debate camp,” where there was “intensive preparation and coaching” from his advisors. Democrat donor John Morgan and some members of the Biden family reportedly blamed his performance at the debate on senior advisor Anita Dunn, former White House chief of staff Ron Klain, and Biden’s attorney Bob Bauer.
However, the president did not blame them, and Klain continued to voice his support for Biden, stating that he would remain in the race, adding, “He is the choice of the Democratic voters.”
Other Democrats, including former President Barack Obama and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi, also voiced their support for Biden, stating he “had a bad night.”
