(LibertySociety.com) – In House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) quest to create a bipartisan January 6th commission, he appointed five trusted Republicans to find the truth.
But when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejected Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jim Banks (R-IN), it was apparent to McCarthy and others she was more interested in blocking Trump supporters than making an actual bipartisan commission.
In her feeble attempt to feign cooperation across party lines, Pelosi invited Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) to sit on the committee. But these particular Republicans previously voted to impeach former President Trump after the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It’s very likely their feelings about Trump may lead to a bias that could skew the truth.

In response to the Speaker’s bold move to stack the commission in her favor, McCarthy announced Republicans would complete their “own investigation.” He plans to run a “reasonable and fair” analysis to compare his group’s findings to those of Pelosi’s heavily Democratic crew.
Going this route might be the only way to combat a partisan committee and ensure the American people know the real story of what happened that day at the Capitol.
