(LibertySociety.com) – In a National Bureau of Economic Research report, the Committee to Unleash Prosperity (CUP) analyzed how different states governed during COVID-19. After all the controversy from mostly Democrats criticizing the way Republican-led states reacted to the coronavirus pandemic, the new study shows red states might have reacted better.
CUP’s study measured education, mortality, and economic impact to round out their analysis of pandemic measures in all 50 states and Washington, DC. The organization found that lockdowns did little to save lives in the mortality category. In fact, the analysis showed doing so only reduced the death rate by an average of 0.2%.
Fascinating read: a two year study into covid response that analyzed death rate, economic impact and school impact found that Florida dominated media darlings California & New York. Here were top ten and bottom ten states at handling covid: https://t.co/zbIhl1QTND

At the top of the list for best outcomes were Utah, Nebraska, and Vermont (two out of three Red), while the lowest in all three categories were California, New York, and New Jersey — all Blue states that implemented strict lockdown measures. Despite being heavily criticized, Florida scored well in economic activity and schooling while maintaining an average mortality rate. Overall, it ranked in the top five performers behind the three listed above and Montana, another Republican-led state.
According to The Daily Wire, the GOP leads 16 out of the 18 top performers, showing that maybe draconian measures simply weren’t necessary.
