(LibertySociety.com) – On May 26, Samuel Cassidy allegedly walked into his workplace, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Guadalupe Light Rail Yard in San Jose, California, and opened fire on his colleagues. Nine people lost their lives in the shooting. Instead of facing justice, the shooter took his own life. After the massacre, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) exploded angrily to the press.
The governor thanked the people who were involved in saving lives. He said that the San Jose police showed a lot of heroism when the incident took place. Then, he launched into a frustrated rant.
“What the hell’s going on in the United States of America? What the hell’s wrong with us?” Newsom said. He demanded to know when people in the country were going to put down their arms.

A shooting has, once again, sparked the debate about gun control. Democrats like Newsom are calling for more laws. The problem with their narrative is that California already has incredibly strict gun laws, and they still experience mass shootings regularly. So, are the laws really helping? Conservatives would say “no,” and disarming people further would do nothing more than put law-abiding citizens in danger.
