Former US Ambassador to Mexico Calls for Mayorkas' Impeachment

Biden Admin CORNERED – Former US Ambassador Calls For IMPEACHMENT

( – Christopher Landau, an attorney and the former US ambassador to Mexico, recently called for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Landau appeared on a podcast with host Alfonso Aguilar, where they both discussed immigration and the current state of affairs in the United States. The controversy ensued when the former ambassador accused the DHS secretary of neglecting his “constitutional responsibility” to “enforce the law” at the border.

Christopher Landau isn’t the first person to bring up the subject of removing Mayorkas. In August 2021, Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) accused the homeland security secretary of “reckless abandonment” of his duties at the border and introduced articles of impeachment.

In April, Chairman of the Republican Study Committee and Representative Jim Banks (IN) sent a letter with other members of Congress to Mayorkas about his performance at the southern border. The politicians accused him of ignoring former President Donald Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) and “embrac[ing] an open-border agenda.”

That same month, a source told Axios that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) may be looking to build a case against Mayorkas. Currently, Republicans don’t have the numbers to impeach him, but they could if the party wins control of the Lower Chamber in the midterms. That said, the California lawmaker did not confirm that as his intent.

Between October 2021 and September 2022, the US Customs and Border Protection had over 2.2 million encounters at the border. The previous year saw just under two million, which was a hefty jump from 2020 with just over 640,000 migrant “enforcement actions.”

What do you think of the job Mayorkas is doing? Do you feel an impeachment is warranted?
