(LibertySociety.com) – On July 28, former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb agreed with the CDC that the COVID-19 delta strain is “much more transmissible” than the original coronavirus strain. But he also believes Delta will complete its rounds across the US by the end of August, so the CDC’s recent mask guidance update may not do much to stop the spread.
In response to case spikes across the country due to this new variant, the CDC now recommends even vaccinated US citizens living in substantial or high transmission areas of the country “wear a mask indoors in public.” Right now, that includes about two-thirds of the country.
Scott Gottlieb, a former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, advised people on Sunday to continue wearing masks as COVID-19 cases continue to rise and the delta variant spreads, adding that the quality of the masks also matters https://t.co/uER6nmFSad pic.twitter.com/VjbM6J0mHf

While both Gottlieb and the CDC agree vaccinated individuals in risky areas of the country should wear masks and use wise judgment, Gottlieb takes a more common-sense, targeted approach. He also makes it clear that wearing a quality mask makes a big difference.
On the other hand, the CDC continues to flip-flop on its recommendations for the American people, causing some confusion. But, the overall message from the CDC and Gottlieb is this: Be diligent, protect yourself, and consider those around you, so we can do our best to remain healthy, minimize risks, and return to more normal rhythms as quickly as possible.
