Florida Man Accused Of Extorting Trump Ally Sentenced To Prison!
(LibertySociety.com) – Stephen Alford, a Florida resident who tried to extort former state Senate President Don Gaetz (R) for $25 million, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for his crime on Monday.
The politician’s son, Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL), is under investigation for sex trafficking a minor. In August 2021, Alford said he could eliminate the current lawmaker’s pending problems by procuring a pardon for him in exchange for the lump sum of cash. Instead, he was arrested and charged.

The defendant admitted he had no way to get a pardon for the younger Gaetz from President Joe Biden, thereby falsely representing his abilities. Alford said he was going to use the millions to help free a former FBI agent and hostage, Robert Levinson, from Iran, painting the Florida legislator as a hero while erasing his “legal troubles.”
Alford was originally supposed to face sentencing for attempting to prevent the seizure of an electronic device and wire fraud in February, but the hearing was pushed back multiple times.
Representative Gaetz denies all the allegations against him. He recently won the GOP primary election in Florida against his challenger, Vietnam veteran Mark Lombardo. The former FedEx executive tried to use the sex trafficking accusations against his opponent to no avail.
