(LibertySociety.com) – Senator John Fetterman, D-Pa., raised eyebrows once again for his choice of attire, this time during an event with President Biden. Although it has come to be expected that Senator Fetterman will be sporting a hoodie and basketball shorts on most days, it is still a hot topic of conversation on social media when pictures and videos surface. He was frequently seen wearing casual attire during his campaign but began his Senate tenure in a suit. Since returning from his lengthy hospital stay for depression, the lawmaker has been seen in the Senate chamber and attended news conferences in his hoodie and shorts.
Senator Fetterman and Democrat Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro met with President Biden on June 17 to speak about the reconstruction of the Interstate-95 bridge that collapsed on June 11. Senator Fetterman began his speech by praising the president for his quick response to this incident and another bridge collapse not long ago. Shortly after beginning his speech, Fetterman started stumbling over his words. He told the crowd that President Biden is “committed to infructure, yeah, and then on top of that the jewel kind of a law of the infraction.” Senator Fetterman has experienced communication problems since his stroke shortly before his primary victory in 2022.
A video clip from the event also made its rounds on social media, as Senator Fetterman introduced U.S. Representative Brendan Boyle, calling him by the name “Boyle Bile.” Newsweek reported that Republicans were mocking Senator Fetterman, although some activists did express their sympathy for him. Others poked at both President Biden and Fetterman, questioning their ability to fulfill their duties to the nation. Craig Agranoff, a political analyst for Newsweek also addressed concerns about Fetterman, stating that recommendations from the GOP that the senator step aside and take care of himself are not out of line, but also pointed out that his physician said he was fit for duty.
