Feds Were Instructed To Quickly Release Migrants, ICE Memo Reveals

ICE Memo Reveals Biden Administration’s Intentions

(LibertySociety.com) – A memo that was circulated on May 10th, 2023, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), shed some light on the decision-making within the Biden administration’s plan to handle detention procedures ahead of the end of Title 42, according to an exclusive from The Daily Caller. Since 2020, millions of illegal migrants have been turned away from entering the country over health concerns, but now that the national emergency is over, the rule has been lifted.

The Daily Caller obtained the memo, which reportedly states authorities were being directed to release illegal migrants from detention who have “received positive credible fear determinations,” meaning they are afraid to go back to their home country for any given number of reasons. According to the memo, this will free up the limited number of beds available to house illegal migrants who are required to be detained, as the Biden administration has reduced capacity since he became President.

A number of Biden administration policies that have been implemented over the last several months have received backlash from the Republican Party, with several currently being challenged in court. Some critics have claimed that these policies are designed to skirt immigration law and give a false representation of how many people are crossing into the country illegally, although there’s no confirmation of this. A recent report found that 99 percent of people who applied for entry into the United States via the CBP One app were approved, prompting GOP members to label the app as a “concierge service.”

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have been encountering around 10,000 illegal migrants per day as of late, with that number expected to increase over the coming months. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are concerned about the ramifications of an exacerbated crisis at the southern border, with Democrats mainly concerned about how it will affect the 2024 election. Senator Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., is worried about the ports of entry being overwhelmed, recently suggesting that mere enforcement of current law could make a big difference.
