FBI Raids Target Homes of Mayor’s Senior Aides

(LibertySociety.com) – The FBI raided the homes of two top members of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ administration early Wednesday, according to a report by Politico.

The report revealed that the homes of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Philip Banks were both searched. Sources said the raids were part of an investigation into Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign.

Mayor Adams has also been drawn into the investigation. In November 2023, his electronic devices were seized, and in July, he was served a grand jury subpoena over allegations of collusion with foreign governments, including Turkey, Politico reported.

Interestingly, there are close ties between the two officials. David Banks, the city’s school chancellor, is Philip Banks’ brother and Sheena Wright’s romantic partner. The homes were reportedly searched at the same time around 5 a.m.

When asked about the raid, David Banks seemed unfazed and responded by saying, “Today is the first day of school, and I am thrilled.” Sources also confirmed that both Wright and Philip Banks had their electronic devices taken by authorities.

This isn’t the first time members of Adams’ inner circle have been targeted in the investigation. Last November, the homes of Brianna Suggs, the mayor’s chief fundraiser, and Rana Abbasova, his international affairs aide, were raided. In February, the home of one of Adams’ special advisors, Winnie Greco, who also serves as the director of Asian affairs, was searched.

Mayor Adams, who has faced controversy during his first term, especially around rising crime in the city, has consistently denied any wrongdoing. He has stated that he is fully cooperating with law enforcement.

The FBI declined to comment on the raids when asked by Politico, though they did not deny their involvement in the investigation.
