Fani Willis Annoyed by Mispronunciation of Her Name

(LibertySociety.com) – Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has frequently engaged in political speech during visits to various churches around Atlanta over the last several months. On June 13 while delivering remarks, she complained about the mispronunciation of her name.

She told the audience that people said it incorrectly because “it reminds them of a woman’s rear.” However, people are only pronouncing it the way that it is spelled. Former President Trump accused Willis of changing the pronunciation of her name after she was elected DA. Back in March, he told a crowd of rallygoers, “It’s spelled ‘Fani’ – like your *ss…”

The RICO case against Trump and his co-defendants is on hold until the Georgia Court of Appeals decides whether Fani Willis can continue to prosecute the case or be disqualified for misconduct during the investigation. Willis was in a romantic relationship with Nathan Wade before she appointed him as special prosecutor for the case. After a hearing over the matter, Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that either Willis or Wade must resign from the case but opted not to disqualify Willis. However, he also said the defendants could appeal his ruling. An appeal was filed, and oral arguments were tentatively scheduled for October 4. The court’s decision to take up the case poured cold water on Willis’s hopes that it would go to trial before the November election.

On June 12, Willis’s office asked the Court of Appeals to dismiss the appeal, claiming that Trump had no evidence that would prompt the court to rule in his favor. Trump’s legal team blasted Willis in its response, pointing out that most of the issues brought by his team were concerns about the legality of her actions. The filing urged the court to reject Willis’s request. Trump’s attorney Steve Sadow released a statement following Willis’s motion, reminding the public that Judge McAfee did call into question the truthfulness of Willis and Wade’s testimony during the hearing, among other things.
