Elon Musk Claims Twitter Signups Are at an All-Time High
(LibertySociety.com) – On November 26, billionaire Elon Musk reported more Twitter users are joining the platform than ever before. The new social media app owner said the week ending November 16 showed a 66% increase in new signups from the same time period last year. Unfortunately for the company, those new users, while impressive, don’t necessarily translate into revenue. That’s especially true, considering at least half a dozen major advertisers recently left the platform.
The day after the announcement, Musk made a bold prediction for his newly-acquired business over the next year or so.

Although there has been a reportedly “massive drop in revenue” since Musk took over, he seems unbothered by the numbers. The CEO blamed the mass exodus of advertisers on “activist groups” and insisted he’s working on a better Twitter overall. Musk referred to the future of the social media platform as “The Everything App,” which will have a different focus, new features, and a subscription service.
Musk originally said he wanted to buy the social media site to restore true free speech to the platform — a goal many in America praised. Since then, he’s restored several previously banned accounts, including that of former President Donald Trump.
A recent study from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, however, showed hate speech drastically increased on Twitter after the acquisition and subsequent pursuit of Musk’s goal, causing much criticism.
