DeSantis Rejoices While Mocking Dr. Fauci – Appropriate Move?

(LibertySociety.com) – Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) spoke at an event in Florida on August 24, where he called NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci a “little elf” that someone should throw “across the Potomac.” The Republican state leader said he was simply “sick of seeing him” while also recognizing that the infectious disease expert will retire soon.

The governor’s aggressive words were met with a round of applause from event-goers, while others called his words “disturbing.”

DeSantis made the remarks during a stop on his “Keep Florida Free Tour.” Throughout the pandemic, the governor has been focused on keeping his state open and retaining his citizens’ right to choose their vaccination status. Fauci took the complete opposite approach as a proponent of shutdowns, masking, and inoculations for all, drawing the ire of many who claimed these measures infringed on their freedoms.

The Florida governor feels the infectious disease expert has “done a lot of damage” while in his position, and he’s glad to see the doctor move out of his position of power. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), was also glad to see him go, stating his departure will not dismiss him from facing accountability for his actions during the pandemic.

Do you think the Florida governor’s words were warranted and appropriate?
