(LibertySociety.com) – Pharmaceutical companies around the globe are developing vaccines to stop the spread of COVID-19. Apparently, at least half a dozen countries were targeted by cyberattacks aimed at stealing information about the drugs.
According to a December 3 report from The Guardian, six countries were sent emails that claimed to be from Haier Biomedical. The company participates in the UNICEF program that works to strengthen supply chains. Tech giant IBM reported the emails were part of a phishing campaign targeting the organizations working on the COVID-19 vaccine “cold chain.”
The bad actors reportedly want to steal information about how the vaccines are being made so they can copy them.

Upon learning of the attacks, Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued its own warning telling all organizations involved in the “vaccine storage and transport” to strengthen their defenses against attacks to keep critical information safe.
