Jim Jordan Demands Accountability From Biden Admin
(LibertySociety.com) – On November 1, Ranking House Judiciary Committee Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) wrote a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, demanding answers. The lawmaker wants to make sure the federal government is complying with a recent decision handed down by the Supreme Court.
In June, SCOTUS issued a ruling regarding West Virginia v. EPA, which stated the federal agency couldn’t “set carbon dioxide emissions caps” on power plants without approval from Congress. In Jordan’s email, he reiterated details about the court’s decision and listed a series of requests he wants to see from Mayorkas.

The ranking House member said the House Judiciary Committee has a right to know how DHS is “complying” with the ruling. To that end, Jordan requested information about policy changes, current and pending, following the SCOTUS decision. The lawmaker also requested rulemaking and guidance documents from January 20, 2021, to the present to make sure everything is in line and in compliance.
Jordan sent similar letters to Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property Kathi Vidal, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, ensuring their respective departments are also in line with the law.
The legislator told the Daily Caller that he’s concerned Democrats are allowing experts to make policy decisions rather than leaving lawmaking up to the elected officials in Congress.
