(LibertySociety.com) – The last week has left the country in turmoil. Americans are still not sure who their next president is and many of us are looking for a way to take our minds off of the political upheaval. Residents of Cincinnati, Ohio, didn’t let that stop them from celebrating the life of a hero.
On November 7, the community came together and threw a surprise 96th birthday party for Command Sgt. Major Henry Armstrong. A parade was held in honor of the World War II veteran where residents thanked him for his service and wished him a happy day. The event included police cars, an ambulance, and a lot of screaming fans.
"You don't realize how many friends you have until something like this happens, and my wife has been very ill and we find out we got more friends than we thought we had."

Armstrong had a long military career in the US Army; he served from 1943 to 1984 and helped liberate a concentration camp in Austria called Gunskirchen Lager. He’s met three of the men he freed from the Nazi camps.
Command Sgt. Major Henry Armstrong is a true American hero. Join us in wishing him a happy belated birthday.
