(LibertySociety.com) – On Sunday, October 25, Conservatives in West Virginia received bad news: coal baron Bob Murray passed away. The longtime Republican was one of President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters. But that’s far from his only legacy.
Murray founded Murray Energy in 1988 and spent his life fighting burdensome environmental regulations. He found a partner in President Donald Trump’s administration in 2017. The commander-in-chief rolled back many of the Obama-era pollution and air quality policies that the coal king believed killed the industry.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) sent her prayers to Murray’s loved ones.
Saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Murray. He was a staunch ally for coal miners, a good friend, and a one of a kind person. Thinking of his friends and family during this difficult time. https://t.co/VlnpxDOD4l

Perhaps the saddest part about the news is Murray had retired just a week before he passed away. The coal industry has lost one of its staunchest advocates. Fortunately, President Donald Trump is still here and ready to carry on his friend’s legacy. The American people will decide in one week if they want him to do that.
