(Liberty Society) – A new bill currently circulating in the California State Legislature would require California retailers to offer children’s products in a gender-neutral format. The bill (AB-1084) was introduced by Democrat Assembly Members Evan Low and Cristina Garcia.
According to the bill, California shops would be forced to display their products that are aimed at children in a single unisex area. The area would be barred from containing labeling that indicates if a product is designed for boys or girls. To quote the bill, “A retail department store shall maintain one, undivided area of its sales floor where, if it sells childcare articles, all childcare articles, regardless of whether a particular item has traditionally been marketed for either girls or for boys, shall be displayed.”
The Orwellian restrictions would also apply to online retailers in California. AB-1084 requires California-based online retailers that sell children’s products to offer the products in a gender-neutral format. Online retailers would be forced to develop a unisex title for the section of their website that is designated for children.
Disturbingly, Democrat Assemblyman Low describes the bill as “an issue of children being able to express themselves without bias…the policy behind this bill is not only important in regards to addressing perceived societal norms but also ensuring that prejudice and judgment does not play a prominent role in our children’s lives.” Low further attempted to justify the bill by proclaiming, “We need to let kids be kids”.
If the bill passes, California stores that violate the law and separate children’s products by gender will face civil fines of up to $1,000. This means that a store that decides to display dresses in a girl’s section will be financially penalized by the state of California for doing so.
Low and other Democrats are not protecting children by creating this legislation. Instead, they are attempting to strip children of their natural inclinations and indoctrinate them to become members of a gender-neutral dystopia in which ideas are no longer valid unless they further the far-left narrative.
