Feds Set NEW RECORD – Giant Drug Trove Found
(LibertySociety.com) – On August 23, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents stopped and searched a vehicle containing 28.66 pounds of the deadly drug fentanyl. Officials estimated the seizure’s value to be around $390,000. If the Mexican man driving had succeeded in his plan to bring the drug into the country, it certainly would have added to America’s current illegal substance and overdose problem.
Numbers through June from CBP in the southwest show border personnel have encountered over 207,000 migrants attempting to cross into the United States since October 1, the start of the fiscal year. While it’s true officials stopped this vehicle before it entered the US with illegal substances, how many more are getting through?

The driver was attempting to cross the Laredo Port of Entry in Texas when a CBP agent suspected something was off and referred him to a more thorough search. They found the fentanyl hidden within the Volkswagen Jetta. Port Director Albert Flores called the catch “significant.” He said the officers searching the vehicle had to take special precautions to protect themselves from the deadly and highly potent narcotic.
Synthetic opioids like fentanyl are a huge problem in the US. The CDC reported more than 150 citizens to die every day from overdoses after taking these drugs. Many Republicans point to President Joe Biden and his border policies for contributing to the tragedy.
