Biden Calls for Trump’s Imprisonment Amid Legal Battles

(LibertySociety.com) – President Joe Biden made a surprising remark during a recent event in New Hampshire, reportedly saying, “We gotta lock him up” in reference to former President Donald Trump. The comment came during an unscripted moment as Biden discussed Trump’s possible return to the White House, adding fuel to speculation about Biden’s stance on the various legal cases involving his former rival.

Biden has previously denied direct involvement in the numerous investigations into Trump. However, critics argue that his comment reflects a deeper desire within the administration to bar Trump from regaining power. Later, Biden attempted to walk back the statement, clarifying, “Lock him out, that’s what we have to do,” as reported by political correspondent Stephen Michael.

Some of Biden’s remarks trace back to his post-2022 midterm press conference when he suggested that the government would work within constitutional means to prevent Trump’s reelection if he ran. Following this statement, on November 18, 2022, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to oversee investigations into Trump’s actions related to classified documents and the January 6 Capitol riot. That same day, Matthew Colangelo moved to a position in the Manhattan DA’s office, and Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor, met with the White House counsel’s office for several hours. Both moves fueled speculation of coordination against Trump.

Special Counsel Smith and others have since revived investigations into Trump, leading to various cases that have faced legal setbacks. Wade’s involvement with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s office, for example, was marked by controversy, including a judicial order to resign after an alleged relationship with Willis surfaced.

The Biden administration has repeatedly maintained its distance from these legal actions, yet the timeline of events and Biden’s public statements continue to raise questions about the relationship between these prosecutions and electoral strategy.
