Biden Blames Trump’s Shouting for Distraction

(LibertySociety.com) – President Joe Biden, 81, blamed former President Donald Trump’s “shouting” for his June 27 debate performance.

In a July 5 interview with ABC host George Stephanopoulos, Biden accused Trump of shouting, even when Biden was answering a question. Biden said that while he was not blaming Trump’s shouting for his debate performance, he noted that he let it distract him. Biden said that is when he realized he “was having a bad night.” He stated his performance was not an “indication of a serious condition.”

Trump’s shouting was not the only thing Biden blamed for his debate performance. He stated that, during the debate, he was tired from his travel 12 days prior, he was sick, the toll of his first term in office, and how he did follow his instincts during debate preparation.

However, while some have tried to blame those who prepared him for the debate, Biden noted that the “whole way I prepared” was “nobody’s fault but mine.”

This was the first interview Biden has given since the debate, where Biden repeatedly lost focus, made false claims, and froze.

The debate rules required Biden and Trump’s microphones to be turned off if they were not speaking. On occasion, Trump could be heard talking while his microphone was off. However, he was not seen or heard shouting during the debate.

Following the debate, Biden and his family met at Camp David to discuss whether he would remain in the race. Biden stated that despite concerns over his age, he remains committed to running. However, Democrats in the House and Senate, political commentators, and Democratic governors have called for him to withdraw. In an opinion piece after the debate, the New York Times editorial board said Biden appeared “as the shadow of a great public servant” before listing all of Biden’s failures during the debate and calling on him to drop out of the race.
