(LibertySociety.com) – Ben Savage, who most people know as Cory from the TV sitcom “Boy Meets World,” has announced that he will be vying to become the representative of California’s 30th Congressional District. Savage recently ran for a city council seat in West Hollywood in 2022, but his loss did not discourage him from staying in the political realm. In fact, way back in 2003, Savage studied Political Science at Stanford, which afforded him an internship with a Pennsylvania U.S. Senator.
Mr. Savage announced his candidacy on Instagram on Monday, March 6th, 2023, but filed paperwork to run as a Democrat back in January of this year. His goal is to restore faith in the government, stating that he will accomplish this “by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions” to the US’s problems. Savage cites special interests, along with political division as the main factors that hinder our government from getting things done, issues of which he seemed to indicate he will avoid.
Savage is hoping to replace Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is the current representative for the state’s 30th Congressional District. Currently, Schiff is gearing up to take the seat of Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in the next election. Rep. Schiff was recently stripped of his position on the House Intelligence Committee, with his announcement to run for the open seat coming two days after his removal by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Rep. Schiff took to TikTok to announce his grievances against the Speaker, ending the video by asking for donations to help save democracy.
When announcing his candidacy, Savage said he believes it’s time for “new and passionate” leaders to propel the country into the future.
