Baldwin Speaks Out: “Hollywood Turned Its Back on Me”

(LibertySociety.com) – Actor Alec Baldwin has opened up about the fallout from the 2021 Rust shooting, describing the experience as an attempt by some in Hollywood to cancel his career. Baldwin spoke candidly during an interview on David Duchovny’s Fail Better podcast, reflecting on the personal and professional toll of the tragic incident.

Baldwin claimed that the mainstream media played a significant role in shaping public perception, alleging that it suppressed stories that might have exonerated him while amplifying damaging narratives.

“These last three years, people have just dined out,” Baldwin said. “Because in this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things. They want you to die.”

He likened the experience to “being dead because you roam the earth and you’re invisible,” adding that some within the entertainment industry tried to end his career entirely. Despite these challenges, Baldwin vowed to continue working to uncover the full story of what happened on the Rust set, calling it an “undeniably successful effort” to reveal the truth.

The shooting, which occurred during the production of the Western film Rust, resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and led to a high-profile involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin. Earlier this year, those charges were dismissed, offering the actor some legal reprieve. However, Baldwin noted that the absence of a full trial has left parts of the case unresolved and unknown to the public.

While acknowledging the hardships, Baldwin expressed optimism about his career. “I do believe that, by the communications I’ve had lately, things are coming back my way to work,” he said. “I’m happy about that because I’ve got seven kids. But I’ve also enjoyed the fact that there’s so much of this case that is not known.”

The actor’s remarks come as his career shows signs of recovery, with new projects reportedly on the horizon. Nonetheless, the incident and its aftermath continue to cast a shadow, raising broader discussions about accountability, public perception, and the complexities of navigating a highly scrutinized industry.
