(LibertySociety.com) – While the standard for impeaching a President of the United States was certainly lowered during the Trump administration, the Republicans in the 118th Congress have not gotten in any hurry to impeach President Biden despite mounting evidence that may warrant an inquiry. However, Devon Archer’s recent testimony before the House Oversight Committee could have moved the needle for some lawmakers. Following his testimony, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said that he believes the evidence the committee has gathered is sufficient to begin the process.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is confident that Acher’s revelations about President Biden’s involvement in his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings have convinced some of her fence-sitting colleagues to finally make a move. Archer testified that Hunter Biden would secure business deals by using the Biden “brand,” and was present during over 20 instances of Hunter Biden calling his father on speakerphone to introduce him to his business associates. Greene referenced how lawmakers who were undecided on considering impeaching former Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton changed their minds when “it was proven” that they had lied.
Greene said that the truth was revealed in Archer’s testimony, and that “Joe Biden, in fact, is the brand that they were selling.” During an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Representative James Comer, R-Ky., said Archer’s testimony proved that Joe Biden was for sale. He told Hannity that Joe Biden had conversations with every person who ultimately paid money to the Bidens, making it clear that his involvement was key to their compensation. Comer also said that he believes Archer’s testimony opened the door to investigating President Biden for Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) violations, and that Hunter Biden undoubtedly violated FARA. Democrats and the mainstream media immediately attempted to claim that Archer’s testimony did not implicate President Biden. Representative Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., was mocked for claiming that Hunter Biden calling his father during meetings with his business partner was not abnormal, telling the press that they mostly discussed the weather.
