Community In Shambles After Shooting Tragedy Strikes Local Church
(LibertySociety.com) – On May 15, a shooter walked into a church in Laguna Woods, California, and opened fire killing one person and critically injuring four. The incident came shortly after two other mass shootings over the weekend, one in Texas and the other in New York. There were about 30 to 40 churchgoers at Geneva Presbyterian Church during the shooting, some of whom captured and detained the suspect with a hog-tie until police arrived at the scene.
Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock said the churchgoers were heroic and brave.
'EXCEPTIONAL HEROISM': The quick action 'undoubtedly prevented additional injuries and fatalities,' authorities said. At least one person was killed and several others were wounded when a gunman opened fire at a California church. https://t.co/5UdIxE5QRB pic.twitter.com/ftHYPj9fBv

Authorities did not give a motive for the alleged shooter, but the investigation is still ongoing. However, they noted he was a 60-year-old Asian man, and the congregation of the church was largely Taiwanese.
After the shooting, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) spoke out, saying “no one should have to fear” going to church.
Considering there were three mass shootings in such a short span of time, many are wondering if that fact indicates a sharp increase in gun violence. The trio of tragedies is likely to spark more conversations among Democrats about gun control and regulation, something those who stand with the Second Amendment largely oppose.
The suspect in the shooting is in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
