Amber Rose Accuses MSNBC’s Joy Reid of Race-Baiting

(LibertySociety.com) – On July 16, model and former reality TV star Amber Rose responded to MSNBC’s Joy Reid’s comments about Rose’s speech supporting former President Donald Trump.

At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Rose spoke about how she went from thinking Trump was “racist” to supporting him. She stated that she realized the media had lied about Trump after her father urged her to do her own research about Trump and his policies.

She noted that as she started meeting Trump’s “red hat-wearing supporters,” she discovered they did not care about race or gender, adding that’s when she realized “these are my people.” She thanked her father, who served in the U.S. military for 20 years, “for opening my eyes.”

However, in response to her speech, Reid called for black voters to distance themselves from Rose, calling her “racially ambiguous.” Reid claimed Rose’s “whole career” is based in black culture,” adding that “she’s not a black person herself.” Reid stated that the speech was an attempt “to try to recruit young people of color” to support Trump, cautioning people from listening to Rose’s message.

Rose responded to Reid’s comments with a post on Twitter, where she accused Reid of being a “race-baiter.” In the post, Rose stated she identifies as biracial and would not invalidate “my White father to make you feel more comfortable.” She called for Reid to stop race-baiting, adding that President Joe Biden “does enough race-baiting for all of us.” Though she responded to a few comments supporting her post, Rose deleted the post.

On the July 16 episode of her podcast, “Candace,” political commentator Candace Owens defended Rose, calling her speech the “highlight of the evening.” Owens noted that Rose’s switch has left her in a “horrible limbo” between her “friends on the left” and “potential friends on the right.” Owens called for people to pause the questioning of her support of Trump.
